Too Many Books to Read
I don’t do enough meaningful reading* and I’m starting to get a huge backlog. This is a problem.
There are so many books, novels, magazines, blogs, etc. out there that I find interesting and want to enjoy. I frequently have dozens of RSS feeds, wishlisted books, and bookmarked articles to read. They are just sitting there, waiting for me.
Sometimes I even purchase a book or magazine and it goes on the “incoming” book shelf. From time to time this “shelf” is really a bookcase.
In an effort to be more focused—and frankly less overwhelmed—I’ve put a stop on all new sources of reading. On top of that, I’m going to limit my Amazon wishlist (where I log future books) to five books and my RSS feeds to eight items. New items can be added only if they replace a previous item.
First book in the queue? Superhuman By Habit: A Guide to Becoming the Best Possible Version of Yourself, One Tiny Habit at a Time by Tynan.
* When I say meaningful reading, I’m talking about slow, thoughtful reading of something longform. I spend a lot of my day reading blog posts and articles that don’t fall under this definition.
